We were delighted to host Gundega Gerke, an Erasmus+ program student from Rīga Stradiņš University, for a short visit to Università del Piemonte Orientale.

During her 5-day stay, Gundega worked closely with our team at The INNOVATION Lab, gaining hands-on experience with a variety of advanced techniques. We were happy to introduce her to:

  • 3D in vitro cell culture systems
  • Biomaterials applications for tumour engineering
  • Mechanical testing of cell spheroids
  • Microscopy techniques, including fluorescence microscopy and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) with elemental mapping
  • Histological analysis of tissue-engineered constructs
Gundega is taking a fluorescent microscopy image of a biomaterial scaffold seeded with cells.

It was a pleasure to share our expertise and learn from Gundega’s perspective as well. We truly hope this marks the beginning of future collaborations and exchange opportunities.

Until next time—let’s keep the science going! 🔬🌍
