Our laboratory had a fruitful week in Daegu, Republic of Korea, the last week of spring: we travelled to participate in the 12th World Biomaterials Congress!

On May 27th, the first day of the Congress, Ksenia Menshikh delivered a talk titled “Comparative analysis of 3D-printed β-TCP and freeze-dried alginate-bioactive glass scaffolds as bone-like microenvironments for osteosarcoma in vitro modelling.” She discussed part of her PhD research, which focuses on biomaterials for tumor engineering.

The INNOVATION Lab members actively participated in the WBC2024: organized and chaired sessions, delivered the invited talks, and made oral presentations.

May 29th was a particularly busy day for us. Our postdoctoral researcher, Elham Sharifikolouei, chaired a session on “Inorganic Materials for Therapeutic Agents” and gave the opening talk. Professor Lia Rimondini, in collaboration with Professor Dagnija Loca from Riga Technical University, organized a session on “Precision Medicine in Biomaterials for Regeneration.” During this session, Professor Andrea Cochis shared the latest breakthroughs from the INNOVATION Lab’s research.

Professors Lia Rimondini and Andrea Cochis, postdoctoral researcher Elham Sharifikolouei and PhD candidate Ksenia Menshikh having a good time at WBC2024!

It was indeed a fruitful time for our laboratory, full of networking, exchanging plans and ideas, and, of course, enjoying Korea!
